About this site

The Mass-Observation Project is run by the Mass-Observation Archive at the University of Sussex.  It was set up to record everyday life in Britain as it is experienced by ordinary people. Since it began, it  has been recruiting a volunteer panel of writers who are invited to document their experiences, and  give their opinions on life and the world around them.
Over 2500 different people have taken part  in the project.
Every single one of these people has an individual and unique way of relating to the archive.
This site aims to explore one correspondent's views and perceptions of the project.
His name is Bob Rust and he has been writing for the project since 1981.
