A fun and practical one-day course to help you record the memories of someone you know

The Family Stories one-day course is designed for anyone
who wants to capture the memories of people in their family.

The course has been devised by Jack Latimer, who teaches on the Life History Certificate course at the University of Sussex. In 1995, Jack recorded his mother telling the story of her early life. When she died several years later, he was very glad that he had: 'I found out things about my mum I never knew and now I have a permanent record of her life.' From the original recordings he made a set of audio CDs for appreciative family and friends.

Family Stories is a fun and practical one-day workshop, specifically for those who want to learn techniques for recording the life stories of people they know. The course will cover preparing for the interview, selecting topics, questioning techniques and the use of recording equipment. There will be lots of opportunity for interview practice and discussion.
