Planning the sessions

It was decided to run four weekly 90-minute sessions that would look at Brighton & Hove as a seaside resort and explore how living by the sea affected peoples' lives. The themes for the sessions of Leisure, Childhood, Employment and World War II were determined by the National Curriculum.

Running the sessions

The class of 26 children was split into four groups. A pair of older people worked with each group for the whole period. A facilitator from the school, the Museum or BOPP worked with each group aswell.

Writing to say thank you...

After the sessions were over, the children wrote thank you letters to the older people for sharing their time and their memories of Brighton and Hove.Click below to see an example.
