The Burning of the Clocks procession has become an annual event in Brighton to celebrate the Winter Solstice.

People make lanterns with clock faces on - the theatre group Same Sky make some spectacular lanterns (like the sun and butterfly below).

The procession starts from the Pavilion Gardens
and winds it's way through the town and down
to the seafront.

The procession ends on the seafront where the lanterns are burnt in a huge bonfire and the evening ends with a  firework display.
