"I had always wanted to live by the sea. So in 1994 I packed all my belongings in a van and rented one room in Brighton with my partner Sue. My family all worked in the shoe industry although I became a projectionist after an unhealthy amount of time spent hanging around my local cinema. I have also worked as a research editor for Cable TV, but I am now looking after my daughter Annie, and studying part-time at the University of Sussex."
"Me and my family at Rottingdean (just outside Brighton). At low tide these rockpools are one of my favourite retreats. They remind me of childhood trips to the seaside."
"This photograph shows a group of young refugees I met during a humanitarian aid convoy to the former Yugoslavia. Many have never lived outside of a refugee camp."
"This is my daughter Annie, posing as usual. She's a cheeky little monkey and likes living near the sea."
My recommendations for the Inside Guide to Brighton & Hove:
The Shelter: Brighton's seafront shelters.
The Shell Shop: The fruits of the sea.
Bardsleys: The finest fish & chips.
