![]() Beneath the clutter of our music collection, Ewan shows he's not the son of lapsed morris dancers for nothing... |
"I like to have a radio in every room, and I have a tape-cassette in the kitchen-living rooms. Always listen to Radio 4, then get sick of the gloom and doom, and go for all-out pop - any station - no preferences - switch the dial constantly.
My husband hates pop music, so I either switch it off when he's around, or play it to annoy him! He likes traditional English music, which I do too, but in small doses. We keep all our music together. I did try to order it by type, but after we moved house, I never got back to it, so I'm constantly searching for the music of my choice. I'll suddenly have the urge to listen to a particular record, and drive myself mad till I've found it. I have a piano in my living room, and I like to play Mozart, Chopin (but very difficult!), Beethoven, Bach. I'd like to be good at jazz and blues, but I don't practice enough - my next project! My husband has guitars, fiddle, concertina, which he keeps in cupboards. He'd like to have them all out constantly, but with small children and propensity to gather dust, it's not really practical. He used to play a lot in the house, but he tends to compose and arrange tunes on the computer now - not so sociable though. I have a large piano accordian which I rarely play, mainly through lack of time."
