Inside Guide to Brighton & Hove
Highdown Chalk Gardens
HOW TO GET THERE
Highdown Chalk Gardens are situated on top of Highdown Hill, which is just off the A259 about 3 miles outside of Worthing in the direction of Littlehampton. Following the A259 the turning up to Highdown Hill is just on the left of the dual carriageway after the Northbrook College roundabout.

Rare plants and beautiful views
"The Chalk Gardens are situated at the top of Highdown Hill, and are little known, but I think are the most beautiful gardens in the area, offering views over both the Downs and the sea. The garden contains lots of rare plants and, as such, have been deemed a national collection. Highdown Hill is the perfect starting point for a trek over the South Downs.

Highdown Hill is the perfect starting point for a trek over the South Downs, with a number of footpaths leading to various villages such as Angmering (where The Spotted Cow is particuarly recommended) and Patching where you will find 'The Horse and Groom' and 'The Fox' (both good pubs, although I tend to favour 'The Fox' as it is a genuine village pub serving good food and beer.)"
