The Miller's Tomb
HOW TO GET THERE
The Miller's Tomb is situated on the top of Highdown Hill, which is just off the A259 about 3 miles outside of Worthing in the direction of Littlehampton. Following the A259 the turning up to Highdown Hill is just on the left of the dual carriageway after the Northbrook College roundabout.

The Miller's Tomb
The grave of an eccentric? Or a smuggler?
"I love the Miller's Tomb - it is an interesting and peaceful place for contemplation, offering beautiful views. It is also a site of local legend and discussion. The tomb is the site of the grave of John Miller, who some say was an eccentric who slept with his coffin under his bed, having had his tomb built on his lands years before his death. However, other people argue that John Miller was fairly together and of sound mind and had the tomb built as a site for hiding his contraband (fags, drugs and whisky etc) and the contraband of other local smugglers.

Highdown Hill is the perfect starting point for a trek over the South Downs, with a number of footpaths leading to various villages such as Angmering (where The Spotted Cow is particuarly recommended) and Patching where you will find 'The Horse and Groom' and 'The Fox' (both good pubs, although I tend to favour 'The Fox' as it is a genuine village pub serving good food and beer)."
