A picture of me. "After finishing a History degree at Portsmouth University, at present I am a research student working on a thesis concerned with 'Representations of Women's Motorcycling' from 1903 onwards. To earn some extra cash I also do some part-time lecturing in media studies at the Chichester Institute. Apart from my motorcycle 'Bessie', I have a pony, two dogs and daughter called Wenona-Fern. This is a close-up of the photo of me. Whilst I live in Worthing which is about 10 miles west of Brighton, I find Brighton a far more eventfull place to be, with some great pubs and clubs, diverse shops and some tasty hippies. However I also enjoy losing myself on the South Downs (literally sometimes) ,and there are few things more enjoyable than exploring the countryside with either the pony or the dogs, especially if some thinking space is needed."

Bess, my bike "Me 'n Bess: Since this picture was taken, Bess has had a complete makeover, so it must be my turn next. A better picture of my bike."

Me aged 10 on a pony called Furzey. "Grrrl power 1970s style": From a leg at each corner to a wheel at each end! A picture of me aged 10 on a funny little pony called Furzey. Sadly, he was killed in a road accident shortly after this picture was taken, but I still have the rosette and some good memories. A close-up of me and Furzey.".

Wenona-Fern on my motorcycle "1990s Grrrl Power personified: My daughter Wenona-Fern on my motorcycle. Skip the four legs; straight on to the two wheels. A close-up of the photo."

My recommendations for the Inside Guide to Brighton & Hove:

Highdown Tea rooms :an excellent place to stop for a break after trekking miles over the South Downs.
Highdown Gardens: the only chalk gardens in the area.
The Miller's Tomb: a short walk across the South Downs. There are many legends about the tomb and its true contents!
