"Most of my records date from a period when I was slightly more solvent, so that makes them very old! I tend to have CDs as birthday or Christmas presents, and I borrow CDs and tapes from the library. I buy sheet music from time to time, but again, I try to use the library. I've just bought my four-year-old son an elementary piano book, and he's sort of interested but not very. Don't think I've got a budding Mozart on my hands!

I think I spend around £20 - £30 a year on public performances; spend nothing on my sound system as we've had it forever, and it suits my needs. When the cassette player broke in the car we sold the car - it was the last straw - I mean, never mind the brakes failing and the engine making funny noises - I couldn't do without the car stereo!"
